Faculty Professional Development Requirements
All faculty members are required to participate in professional development activities every year by the Louisiana Non-Public School Standards found in Non-Public Bulletin 741 and by the Standards of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS).
There is no specific number of hours of professional development required except for teachers with Louisiana Level 2 and Level 3 Certification. Level 2 and Level 3 Certification lasts for five years. During that five year period, the person holding that certification must earn 150 hours of professional development (150 Continuing Learning Units – CLUs).
By definition CLUs for teachers must consist in professional development directed toward improving student learning.
A record of professional development should be maintained in each faculty member’s personnel file.
